Inquiry OnlineThe Isua greenstone belt is located within a part of the Archaean gneiss complex of West Greenland (Bridgwater et al., 1976) that contains remnants of early Archaean tonalitic gneisses (Fig. 2.2-1). Some rocks within the belt are considered to provide evidence for the existence of life before 3.7 Ga ( Rosing, 1999 ; Pflug, 2001 ).
Jan 01, 1985 MINERAL DEPOSITS The Qingyuan greenstone belt is rich in mineral resources such as Cu, Au, Zn and Fe. The famous Hongtoushan Cu-ore deposit is a stratiform deposit. The isotopic composition of sulphur for the ores is near chondritic (5 S34 = -0.6 ~ + 2.4% 0, Table VIII). The isotopic composition of lead is uniform and ordinary.

Jul 27, 2019 Archean komatiites form an important host rock for Ni-Cu sulfide deposits in the world. In this study, we examined Archean komatiites and komatiitic basalts from four areas in the Vedlozero-Segozero greenstone belt and two areas in the Tikshozero greenstone belt, Russian Karelia, to constrain their Ni-Cu sulfide mineralization potential using chalcophile element geochemistry.
Rocks of the 3570–3080 Ma Barberton greenstone belt record a geological history of at least 490 million years (m.y.), and were affected by regional thermal perturbations for over 1500 m.y. Small tectonic wedges of 3570–3511 Ma schistose tonalite are the oldest rocks yet recognized, but little is known about their tectonothermal history.

The Sula Mountains greenstone belt is the largest of the late-Archaean greenstone belts in the West African Craton. It comprises a thick (5km) lower volcanic formation and a thinner (2km) upper metasedimentary formation. Komatiites and basalts dominate the volcanic formation and komatiites form almost half of the succession. All the volcanic rocks are metamorphosed to amphibolite grade and ...

basalts and boninites, which have been reported from a few Archaean greenstone belts of Superior Province, Quebec, Canada, Greenland, Baltic Shield and Western Australia (Kerrich and Polat, 2006). Individual suites of boninites and adakites were also identified from other greenstone belts of the world (Smithies, 2002; Polat and Munker, 2004;
The geochemistry and isotope systematics of Archean greenstone belts provide important constraints on the origin of the volcanic rocks and tectonic models for the evolution of Archean cratons. The Kam Group is a approximately 10-km-thick pile of submarine, tholeiitic mafic, and subordinate felsic volcanic rocks erupted between 2712 and 2701 Ma ...
Greenstone Belt belongs to the Neoarchean Nyanzian Supergroup [7]. The belt is made up of two intermittently exposed arcs of metavolcanic and metasedimentary rocks surrounded by granitoid rocks (Figure 1). References [4, 7,9] reviewed the geological setting and lithostratigra- phic subdivisions of the Sukumaland Greenstone Belt.
Abstract The geochemistry and isotope systematics of Archean greenstone belts provide important constraints on the origin of the volcanic rocks and tectonic models for the evolution of Archean cratons. The Kam Group is a ∼10‐km‐thick pile of submarine, tholeiitic mafic, and subordinate felsic volcanic rocks erupted between 2712 and 2701 Ma that forms the bulk of the Yellowknife ...
Greenstone rocks, which include Banded Iron Formations (BIFs), tuffs, volcanic flows (basalt, andesite and rhyolite), and clastic sedimentary rocks (shale-mudstone, greywacke-sandstone and conglomerate), crop out around Geita Hills and are flanked by granites and granodiorites. BIFs and tuffs occupy larger area than other lithological units, which crop out as patches.
Petrography and Geochemistry of Archaean Greywackes from Northern Part of the Dharwar-Shimoga Greenstone Belt, Western Dharwar Craton: Implications for Nature of Provenance Abstract: Greywackes (Dharwar greywackes) are the most abundant rock types in the northern part of the Dharwar-Shimoga greenstone belt of the Western Dharwar Craton.
The Harris Greenstone Belt (HGB), southeast of Tarcoola in the Central Gawler Craton, is a newly outlined Archaean metakomatiitic greenstone province that has been the focus of recent drilling investigations (Figures 1 and 2). This determined the extent of the HGB and its mineral potential, in particular for Ni and Au.

Shoshonitic and calc-alkaline lava flows, dykes and sills of the Opemiska Group in the Chibougamau region of the northeastern part of the Archean Abitibi greenstone belt (Qudbec, Canada) were emplaced in a sedimentary basin prior to the major phase
The Limpopo Belt is a zone of thickened Archaean crust whose origin is currently explained by a late Archaean continent-continent collision between the Kaapvaal and Zimbabwe cratons. This review shows that the two cratons have fundamentally different geological histories and that the Zimbabwe Craton was unlikely to have behaved as a stable ...

Pb isotope abundances are reported for six late-kinematic granitoid intrusives from the Quebec sector of the Abitibi greenstone belt. Leaching experiments on K-feldspar separates reveal the presence of radiogenic Pb, attributed to in situ decay of U and Th. Pb-Pb mineral isochrons were constructed with the K-feldspar data plus results obtained on the total-rock, sphene, apatite and other ...
